Valerian is traditionally used as home remedy for restlessness and insomnia. Dried roots are source of many pharmaceutical preparations (valerian drops, herbal tea for calming anxiety). Essential oil is produced with distillation of valerian roots. Essential oil is often used in aromatherapy because of calming and sedative properties.
